China will give a priority to enhancing energy connectivity with countries along the Belt and Road routes in the next ten years, with more pipelines built to ensure oil and gas imports from relevant countries, according to a plan jointly released by the National Development and Reform Commission and the National Energy Administration on July 12.
The total length of the country’s pipeline networks will reach 240,000 kilometers by 2025, with those for crude oil, refined oil and natural gas at 37,000 kilometers, 40,000 kilometers and 163,000 kilometers. The annual average growth rate for the three kinds of pipelines from now to 2025 will be 3.2 percent, 6.7 percent and 9.8 percent respectively.
Joint efforts will be made to deepen cooperation on projects with Central Asia, Russia and Myanmar.
China will optimize layout of liquid natural gas (LNG) terminals in coastal cities to ensure LNG imports. It will expand the storage and transfer capacity of LNG facilities in Bohai Rim, the Yangtze River Delta and coastal regions of Southeast China, and build a series of new LNG terminals.
