China's Chongqing Municipality saw 441 trips made from its land-sea freight route in the first half of 2019, accomplishing 63 percent of this year's target.
The route is part of the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor, a trade and logistics passage jointly built by western Chinese provincial regions and Singapore under the framework of the China-Singapore (Chongqing) Demonstration Initiative on Strategic Connectivity.
Chongqing is a center of operation for the corridor. The shipment of goods is scheduled to arrive at the Beibu Gulf in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, where it will transfer to sea routes. The operation time is much shorter than that of the traditional river-sea transport.
The route is expected to see 700 trips this year.
Since its official opening on Sept. 25, 2017, the freight train services on the land-sea freight route have been changed from the original monthly train to today's daily train, and additional and special train service can be arranged according to customers' needs.
By the end of June, the land-sea freight route had seen 1,098 trips, transporting more than 300 kinds of commodities including auto parts, construction materials, porcelain, chemical products, grains and frozen goods.
