China's General Administration of Customs (GAC) has taken into consideration its responsibilities of the entry-exit inspection and quarantine under the Belt and Road Initiative to actively promote the Belt and Road construction in five aspects this year, according to theyidaiyilu.gov.cn on Tuesday.
In terms of building a “peace road”, it will promote the establishment of the customs coordinating and liaison mechanismalong the Belt and Road, give play to the role of the multilateral regional cooperation mechanisms such as the World Customs Organization, the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), Asia-Europe Meeting, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), and carry out the inspection and quarantine international cooperation along the Belt and Road so as to create a safe and stable trading environment for the Belt and Road construction.
In terms of building a “prosperity road”, it will support the construction of a major international logistics channel, improve customs clearance for China-Europe freight trains, and promote the link of the “21st Century Maritime Silk Road”, and strengthen cooperation on interconnection of border ports, so as to facilitate the integration of land, sea, sky and Internet.
In terms of building an “open road”, it will step up the promotion of key cooperative projects such as the mutual recognition of the “Authorized Economic Operators” (AEO) by the customs, boost international capacity cooperation, and continue to serve the construction of free trade zones.
In terms of building an “innovation road”, it will strengthen the protection of customs intellectual property rights, reinforce cooperation in scientific and technological innovation, and start the construction of the Belt and Road customs information exchange and sharing service platform.
In terms of building a “civilization road”, it will promote cooperation and exchanges of customs think tanks, and establish a multi-faceted cooperation platform with think tanks at home and abroad and within the customs circle.
