The main forum of the World Robot Conference was held in Beijing on August 22, bringing together top experts throughout the world to look into the opportunities for robot industry development under the Belt and Road (B&R) Initiative.
Vitaly Nedelskiy, president of the Russian Association of Robotics, said that the association has organized several renowned robot manufacturers to attend the conference with their latest products, including industrial robots, the Promobot for self-service consultation in business centers, shopping malls and museums, the Robbo for education in schools and clubs, and integrated automation systems for rockets and aerospace, etc.
Russian research institutions are working with their Chinese partners to build a medical robot center for medical robot research, design, software development and production. In the future, the Russian side will carry out more cooperation with Chinese medical institutions to build a manufacturing base to provide global sales and services, he added.
Wang Tianmiao, director of the smart manufacturing research institute of Beihang University, noted that we should analyze technologies according to the development level of the regions along the B&R. Special equipment, such as machinery for construction, marine operations and agricultural use, should be developed first in the areas where infrastructure is backward, while smarter numerically-controlled robots, household appliances, medical equipment and entertainment equipment are probably more needed in developed areas.
Zvi Shiller, chairman of the Israeli Robotics Association, said that the Chinese government and the Israeli government have signed several agreements focusing on a three-year cooperation plan. The cities involved in the cooperation welcome Israeli companies to these cities to make investment and conduct joint research and development (R&D).
Shiller also noted that innovation should be integrated with the market. Israel has established a united robot research institute with its Chinese partners in Guangzhou. With ideas and technologies from Israel, capital and the site from China, the institute will conduct market-oriented product development.
