Guangxi Bossco Environmental Protection Technology Co. has entered the environmental protection market of Malaysia by joining hands with a local listed company to build a green industrial park, which will be the first of its kind in Malaysia.
Song Hainong, general manager of Bossco, said that the company also has cooperation with many other Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) countries, such as Indonesia, Myanmar and Vietnam, to share fruits of green development.
Deepening cooperation on environmental protection sector reflects economic and trade contacts between China and ASEAN. The bilateral trading volume hit 452.2 billion U.S. dollars in 2016. At present, China remains the largest trade partner of ASEAN and ASEAN is the third largest trade partner of China.
China and ASEAN share close economic ties. Their cooperation has extended from the traditional manufacturing industry to the Internet sector.
Xie Jianbing, secretary general of the China-ASEAN Mobile Internet Industry Alliance, said that more than 40 percent of the mobile applications ranking the top 50 in ASEAN have been introduced from China. China's Internet firms have been the most popular cooperation partners of ASEAN enterprises.
Many insiders attributed the fruitful achievements to the key fact that both China and ASEAN are open-minded and ready to promote regional integration and trade globalization.
Xu Liping, a senior research fellow with the National Institute of International Strategy at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, said that China and ASEAN have taken actions on advancing regional integration, thereby setting a new model for regional cooperation.
Over the past few years, China and ASEAN countries have been constantly removing barriers in many fields in order to increase personnel exchanges and connectivity. While maintaining rising trade volume, lots of goods have entered each other's market without paying any tariff.
"Other regions and countries can learn a lot from the in-depth cooperation between China and ASEAN in aspects such as removal of trade barriers and promotion of personnel exchange," said Xu Liping, adding that all of these will undoubtedly accelerate bilateral exchanges in areas such as tourism, culture and education.
Xie Jianbing believed that with the advancement of the Belt and Road Initiative, China and ASEAN will yield new fruits in interconnection, economy and trade, production capacity cooperation and personnel exchanges, thereby setting a new model for regional cooperation.
