A cargo train carrying automobile parts from Mannheim Harbor, Germany arrived in Chongqing on November 18.

The train traveled 11,000 kilometers before reaching Guoyuan port, Chongqing, during which it went through Poland, Belarus, Russia, and Kazakhstan crossing the border at Khorgos.

The customs clearance process of those commercial vehicles was finished on Monday. The train, carrying 112 Mercedes-Benz cars, started its trip in Bremen, Germany on Oct. 29.

The one-way trip took 16 days and 16 hours, reducing transportation time by more than two-thirds compared with by sea. Compared with shipping containers, train carriages are larger and less restricted by seasonal changes.

Mannheim Harbor is the second nod Chonqing-Europe cargo trains set in Europe, which will be considered as an important regular departure station in Germany.

The launch of the freight train will strengthen the economic and trade cooperation between China's upper reaches of the Yangtze River and the upper reaches of the Rhine in Europe, and boost the Liangjiang New Area in Chongqing to better serve the cooperation projects of Germany in the fields of logistics, trade, intelligence manufacturing.
