The Cuban government suspended granting new licenses to private work in about 20 sectors, the official Gazette of the Republic of Cuba said on Tuesday.
According to the Gazette, the measure is aimed at the "improvement" of the system for the private sectors.
This is the first of a set of legal regulations announced weeks ago by the Council of State to "regulate" the delivery of authorizations.
Among the suspended activities are the street vendors of agriculture products and the opening of new restaurants.
According to the provision, those who have already had such licenses may continue their work.
The official newspaper "Granma" highlighted that there will be no new authorizations for that group of activities until further "improvement of self-employment."
The Cuban government opened the access to private work in October 2010 as part of his efforts to improve the local socialist economic model.
Currently 568,000 people work in more than 200 categories of private activities, representing 12 percent of the labor force in the country.
