SEOUL, Aug. 8 (Xinhua) -- Goods supply in the South Korean manufacturing industry, including those both produced locally and imported from overseas, rose 5.3 percent in the April-June quarter from a year ago, a government report showed Tuesday.

The rising pace slightly slowed from the record quarterly growth of 7.2 percent tallied in the first quarter, according to Statistics Korea.

The so-called domestic supply in the manufacturing sector increased at a faster pace from 0.9 percent in the second quarter of last year to 3.8 percent in the fourth quarter of that year.

For the second quarter of this year, the domestic supply for goods manufactured locally gained 0.7 percent from a year ago. It was down from a 3.1 percent expansion in the previous quarter.

The domestic supply imported from overseas jumped 16 percent in the second quarter, but it was down from a 16.9 percent increase in the first quarter.

By product, the end goods supply advanced 12.5 percent on strong demand for both capital and consumer goods. The intermediate goods supply rose 1.4 percent.

The domestic supply among carmakers reduced 3 percent, but those for machinery equipment, electronic devices and medical precision devices posted a double-digit growth.
