TOKYO, June 13 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks lost ground Thursday morning as investor sentiment was dented by U.S. shares retreating overnight amid continued concerns over global growth prospects.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average dropped 171.47 points, or 0.81 percent, from Wednesday to 20,958.25.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, lost 18.12 points, or 1.17 percent, to 1,536.10.

Oil and coal product, marine transportation and mining-linked issues comprised those that declined the most by the morning break.
