TOKYO, June 3 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks dropped sharply Monday morning as the yen's rise against the U.S. dollar hurt exporter issues and negatively impacted the broader market.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average dropped 239.43 points, or 1.16 percent, from Friday to 20,361.76.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, lost 15.56 points, or 1.03 percent, at 1,496.72.

Oil and coal product, securities house and nonferrous metal-linked issues comprised those that declined the most by the morning break.
