YANGON, July 4 (Xinhua) -- A total of 56 veterinary students from 12 countries have been conducting field research under an eight-day ASEAN Veterinary Volunteer Project 2017 since the weekend, official media reported Tuesday.
These veterinary students are from Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Indonesia, Cambodia, the Philippines, Vietnam, Japan, the United States, Canada, France and Finland.
The students have been travelling to villages in Myingyan Township in Mandalay, central part of Myanmar for further veterinary services there.
Aiming to promote the veterinary profession in ASEAN (the Association of Southeast Asian Nations) and exchange cultural activities between the two countries, the project was introduced with the collaboration of the University of Veterinary Science and Thailand's Kasetsart University.
The students have done field research in Thailand last month and the group will hold educational seminars, give the needed veterinary services -- performing cattle and rabies vaccination, giving medical treatment to get rid of parasitic worms, performing surgeries on animals and planting long-lived trees.
