Myanmar's poverty has declined in the 10-year period between 2004/2005 to 2015, according to a report jointly issued by Myanmar government and the World Bank on Wednesday.
Overall living standards have improved with average household spending increasing annually by 1.4 percent as over 42 percent of households owned motorcycles in 2015 compared to only 25 percent in 2009.
U Kyaw Win, minister for planning and finance, vowed to support growth in the country's farms and villages for reduction in poverty, which can ensure that economic reforms continue to reach everyone in the country.
The decline in poverty also reflects the country's strong track record on economic growth, Ellen Goldstein, World Bank's country director for Myanmar, Laos and Cambodia said.
