TOKYO, May 30 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks lost ground Thursday morning as market sentiment was dented by Wall Street's retreat overnight on concerns over global economic growth.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 178.46 points, or 0.85 percent, from Wednesday to 20,824.91.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, fell 14.38 points, or 0.94 percent, at 1,522.03.
Pulp and paper, miscellaneous product and precision instrument-linked issues comprised those that declined the most by the morning break.
