CHICAGO, June 10 (Xinhua) -- Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) wheat and soybeans futures closed higher on Monday, as traders had their eyes on two updated reports respectively on the latest export inspection and crop progress.
At the end of the trading session, July wheat settled 3 cents higher, or 0.59 percent to 5.075 dollars per bushel. July soybeans were up 2.25 cents, or 0.26 percent to 8.585 dollars per bushel and the most active corn contract for July delivery was unchanged at 4.1575 U.S. dollars per bushel.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) released on Monday the latest export inspection report, showing 714,627 metric tons of soybeans were inspected during the week ending June 6, notably higher than 510,482 metric tons in the previous period.
Meanwhile, U.S. corn inspections totaled 850,647 metric tons, also increased from 744,840 metric tons during previous week.
Although wheat inspections were lower than previous week, but still above the volume of the same period of last year.
Also on Monday, USDA reported the planting progress and crop conditions as of June 9. U.S. farmers have sped up seeding process thanks to relatively drier weather conditions, but still below the past five year average, according to the report. Enditem
