DUBAI, Feb. 14 (Xinhua) -- Emirates airline said on Thursday that it reached an agreement with Airbus to reduce its total order of A380 aircraft from 162 to 123 jets.
It also signed a new deal for 40 A330-900 jets and 30 A350-900 jets worth 21.4 billion U.S. dollars, said a statement by the airline on its website.
Fourteen A380 aircraft will be delivered from 2019 till the end of 2021, the statement said.
Earlier, Airbus announced plans to stop production of the superjumbo after 2021.
"While we are disappointed to have to give up our order, and sad that the program could not be sustained. We accept that this is the reality of the situation," Emirates Chairman Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al-Maktoum said.
"Emirates has been a staunch supporter of the A380," he added.
The A380 will remain a pillar of the Emirates flights until the 2030s, according to the airline.
