A total of 41 containers of feed addictives left a major logistics center in northwestern Chinese city of Urumqi for Holland on a new sea-rail combined transportation route between China and Europe, chinanews.com reported on Sept. 29.
Feed addictives such as threonine have a large market in Europe. Every year, 100 thousand tons of feed additives are exported to European countries from Xinjiang.
To satisfy the demand, a logistics company in Xinjiang initiated cooperation with railway bureaus in Xinjiang and Kazakhstan and then designed this new route to provide convenience for Chinese products to go out.
On this trip, the freight will cross the China-Kazakhstan border and pass Russia, Belarus, and Poland by fast train before arriving at Rotterdam.
The combined sea-rail transportation route was co-designed by China and Kazakhstan and it will help further lower logistics costs and improve efficiency so as to achieve win-win results, said Liu Changlin, general manager of Urumqi Railway Bureau’s international logistics company.
It is another achievement for great connectivity since the intermodal transportation by road, rail, and sea connecting Urumqi, Lianyungang, a coastal city in east China, and New Delhi in India. It is the first route that links the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, according to chinanews.com.
