In a bid to expand its connectivity and arrivals of foreign visitors, Indonesia provided airport incentives for airlines willing to open new scheduled routes to Indonesia with initial implementation in Bali's international airport.

The incentives were manifested in discount schemes, provided by Indonesian airport operator agency of Angkasa Pura I on landing fee, use of airport facilities by airlines opening their new routes to Bali international airport of I Gusti Ngurah Rai.

The discount schemes were given in six months since the initial arrivals of planes operated by the airlines in their new routes to Bali.

Indonesian Tourism Minister Arief Yahya praised the airport incentive initiative, saying that widening air connectivity holds essential factor to boost arrivals of foreign visitors as air transport serves up to 80 percent of foreign visitor arrivals in Indonesia.

"This is excellent, the initiative is in line with President Joko Widodo's expectation to widely open the access for tourism," the minister said on Thursday.
