TOKYO, Aug. 27 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks closed higher Tuesday after a selloff a day earlier, as concerns abated somewhat about trade issues, with investors buying back issues oversold in Monday's rout.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 195.04 points, or 0.96 percent, from Monday to close the day at 20,456.08.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 11.66 points, or 0.79 percent, to finish at 1,489.69.
Rubber product, retail and transportation equipment-linked issues comprised those that gained the most by the close of play.
