HANOI, Nov. 8 (Xinhua) -- Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and his visiting Canadian counterpart Justin Trudeau agreed here on Wednesday to establish the framework of a comprehensive partnership between the two countries.
The two sides will coordinate to realize contents in the comprehensive partnership framework across politics, diplomacy, trade, investment, development, education, training, national defense, security, science, technology and other fields, the two prime ministers said at a joint press briefing after their talks.
Phuc affirmed that Vietnam treasures and wants to further its relations with Canada.
He asked for Canada's further supply of official development assistance, especially for poverty reduction, climate change response, agriculture and sustainable growth, and support for Vietnam's access to preferential loans after 2017.
Trudeau said his country is committed to supporting Vietnam in climate change response and promotion of sustainable development via the implementation of the 2030 United Nations Agenda for Sustainable Development.
He pledged to expand academic exchange via establishing partnerships and student exchange programs between the two countries' educational establishments.
