NEW DELHI, Sept. 9 (Xinhua) -- The passenger vehicles sales in India were down by 31.57 percent in August as compared to the same month last year, according to the data released by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) on Monday.
The automakers sold 196,524 units during last month, as against 287,198 in August 2018.
In the commercial vehicles segment, the sales were down by 38.71 percent to 51, 897 units as against 84,668 in the same month in 2018.
SIAM mentioned that the sale of three-wheelers also declined by 6.93 percent to 58,818 units in August, as against 63,199 in the same month last year.
In the category of two-wheelers, the sale was lowered by 22.24 percent to 1,514,196 units as against 1,947,304 for the same month in 2018.
It also added that the vehicle sales across all categories registered a decline of 23.55 percent to 1,821,490 units from 2,382,436 units in August 2018.
