UAE, China's largest investment destination in Arab countries

Zhong Shan, the commerce minister, and Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansoori, the minister of the United Arab Emirates' Ministry of Economy, together presided over the sixth economic and trade meeting of the two countries in Beijing on September 6, discussing topics such as improving bilateral economic and trade partnership in the years to come.

The two sides signed cooperation agreements on the entrepreneurs exchange visits, trade and investment promotion, and trade remedies, and held talks between entrepreneurs of similar fields from the two countries.

China's direct investment in the UAE was US$321 million from January to July, accounting for 43.59 percent of China's investment in the Arab countries, making the UAE China's largest investment destination among the Arab countries, according to the Commerce Ministry.

China's trade with the UAE was US$23.64 billion from January to July, up 1.3 percent year-on-year.

Oil and gas, industries, finance and infrastructure are the main cooperation fields between the two countries.
