TOKYO, Aug. 2 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar plummeted to a five-week low in the upper 106 yen range in Tokyo on Friday, after the market sentiment was severely dented by renewed trade concerns.
The dollar was quoted at 106.91-92 yen at 5 p.m., compared with 107.30-40 yen in New York and 109.14-15 yen at 5 p.m. on Thursday in Tokyo.
During the day, it moved between 106.84 yen, marking its lowest level since June 25, and 107.56 yen, trading most frequently at the 107.11 yen mark.
The euro, meanwhile, fetched 1.1113-1114 dollars and 118.81-85 yen against 1.1080-1090 dollars and 118.94-119.04 yen in New York and 1.1032-1033 dollars and 120.41-45 yen in late Thursday afternoon trade in Tokyo.
