NEW YORK, Sept. 5 (Xinhua) -- U.S.-listed Chinese companies traded mostly higher on Thursday with nine of the top 10 stocks by weight in the S&P U.S. Listed China 50 index ending the day on an upbeat note.
Shares of Yum China and Ctrip.com International added 4.04 percent and 3.74 percent, respectively, leading the gainers in the top 10 stocks of the index.
Shares of BeiGene shed 6.78 percent, the only laggard in the top 10.
U.S. stocks closed higher on Thursday as investors' sentiment was lifted by the news that China and the United States agreed to jointly create favorable conditions for trade talks in October.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 372.68 points, or 1.41 percent, to 26,728.15. The S&P 500 was up 38.22 points, or 1.30 percent, to 2,976.00. The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 139.95 points, or 1.75 percent, to 8,116.83.
As of Wednesday, the S&P U.S. Listed China 50 index stood at 2,809.13, marking a 0.66-percent decrease for the month-to-date returns and a 22.6-percent gain for the year-to-date returns. Enditem
