TOKYO, Aug. 19 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks extended gains Monday morning following U.S. and European shares rising late last week on eased global economic outlook concerns, which encouraged investors to buyback issues heavily oversold recently.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 106.64 points, or 0.52 percent, from Friday to 20,525.45.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 6.15 points, or 0.41 percent, at 1,491.44.
Oil and coal product, securities house, and glass and ceramics product-linked issues comprised those that gained the most by the morning break.
