TOKYO, July 30 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks extended gains Tuesday morning with investor sentiment bolstered by a comparatively weak yen against the U.S. dollar helping lift exporter issues.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 146.58 points, or 0.68 percent, from Monday to 21,763.38.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 7.78 points, or 0.50 percent, at 1,576.35.
Electric appliance, iron and steel and nonferrous metal-linked issues comprised those that gained the most by the morning break.
