BEIJING, Feb. 19 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed mixed on Tuesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.05 percent, at 2,755.65 points. The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.07 percent lower at 8,440.87 points.
The combined turnover of stocks in the two indices stood at 605.8 billion yuan (about 89.4 billion U.S. dollars), up from 540.6 billion yuan the previous trading day.
Aircraft manufacturing shares were among the strongest gainers, with China Spacesat Co., Ltd surging by 9.99 percent to close at 21.36 yuan per share.
The biopharmaceutical sector suffered a downtrend, with the sub-index down 0.99 percent. Hubei Jumpcan Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd fell to 33.63 yuan per share, losing 7.10 percent.
The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, lost 0.53 percent to close at 1,406.04 points.
