Xi’an’s International Trade and Logistics (ITL) Park received approval from the State Council to serve as a port for finished automobiles on June 17, according to Xi’an ITL Park administrative committee.
The approval authorizes Xi’an to carry out the business of importing automobiles from overseas countries. In the past, ports for finished automobiles have been located in border areas including China’s eastern coastal areas, the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region and the Inner Mongolia autonomous region.
In promoting the Belt and Road Initiative, China has launched policies to support the development inland areas. The local residents of northwestern China’s Shaanxi province will now enjoy more favorable pricing and larger convenience in consumer automobiles as a result of the import approvals.
According to Sun Yimin, director of the ITL Park administrative committee, automobile import businesses in the ITL park will help to accelerate industrial development in the area.
