A two-day Chinese Tibetan culture forum started here in Kathmandu on Tuesday.

Nepali Deputy Prime Minister Krishna Bahadur Mahara inaugurated the event with the presence of culture experts, politicians, media personnel and diplomats, among others.

Addressing the event, Mahara said the friendly relationship between Nepal and China has been further enhanced following the signing of a bilateral cooperation agreement under the China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative last month.

"I hope this important event will be helpful to share ideas between scholars from China and Nepal, thus helping to promote the bilateral ties," he added.

Chinese Ambassador Yu Hong said China and Nepal have been enjoying friendly relations through cooperation in various fields such as culture, trade and tourism since the establishment of the diplomatic relations in 1955.

Meanwhile, Deputy Director-General of China Tibetology Research Center An Qiyi said China's Tibet and Nepal have deep cultural, social and religious ties. "Nepal is Tibet's largest international trading partner and the economic relation is thriving," he said.
