The 12th China-Southeast Asia Business Forum (CSABF) got underway in Kunming, Yunnan province on June 12, in conjunction with the 2017 South-Southeast Asia Commodity Expo and Investment Fair, held in the city from June 12 to 18.
The forum aims to further trade and investment cooperation between China and countries in South Asia, and promote regional economic and social development.
The forum was organized by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), People's Government of Yunnan Province and South Asia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SACCI), and themed on "challenging opportunities – creating more jobs and innovative investments".
South Asia is an important trade hub along the Belt and Road and has become one of the regions with the fastest economic growth in the world. Lu Pengqi, vice-president of the CCPIT in his opening speech of the forum, said China and South Asia should strengthen exchanges and promote bilateral relationships to develop further and wider.
A series of cooperation agreements have been signed during the forum, including one between SACCI and Beingmate, a Hangzhou-based group focusing on baby and maternity products.
